SIMCom Launched the Newest 5G modules at MWC Shanghai

With the mass deployment of 5G and the wide application of low-power WANs such as NB-IoT, global Internet of Things (IoT) connections are growing at a high speed. From smart cars and smart homes to enterprise asset management equipment and industrial equipment, widespread connectivity is driving the transformation of information technology from the mobile Internet to the Internet of Everything. 5G module SIM8262G-M2, supports R16, equipped with Qualcomm SDX62 and oriented to the global market



On July 3, 2020, 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) announced the freezing of Release 16 (R16), marking the completion of the first evolving version of 5G standard. The more mature version of R16 will accelerate the development of downstream applications of 5G.


The 5G module SIM8262G-M2 launched by SIMCom supports R16. As a multiband 5G NR/LTE-FDD/LTE TDD/HSPA + module that supports 5G NSA/SA. It is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon X62, which is Qualcomm's new-generation 5G modem-to-antenna solution that supports download speeds up to thousands of megabits for mobile broadband applications. SIM8262G-M2 has powerful scalability and various interfaces, including PCIe,USB3.1,GPIO, etc. It adopts M.2 standard interfaces. The size is 42.0*30.0* 2.3mm. Its AT command is compatible with SIM8202G/SIM8200X-M2 modules, minimizing the investment cost and shortening the time to market for customers.


At present, the Internet of Things is booming. Trillions of new devices will be connected to the Internet. As a new-generation communication technology, 5G will be mainly used in application scenarios requiring high-speed transmission, such as WITMED, distance education, automated driving, etc. As the first 5G communication module that supports R16, SIM8262G-M2 can be widely used in virtual reality, augmented reality, CPE and other terminals to create application scenarios such as Internet of Vehicles, industrial Internet of Things, WITMED, 4K /8K HD videos, etc., greatly conducive to AIoT.


5G module SIM8282G-M2, equipped with Qualcomm SDX62 and oriented to the global market



Based on Qualcomm's fourth-generation 5G modem-to-antenna solution Snapdragon X65, SIM8282G-M2 is a 5G multiband LTE-FDD/LTE-TDD/HSPA+ module, which support NSA/SA. Snapdragon X65 is the world's first modem and RF system that supports the 10Gbps 5G transmission rate and 3GPP Release 16. SIM8282G-M2 equipped with SX65 can cover all major 5G bands including MMW and Sub-6GHz bands and their combinations. FDD and TDD give carriers extreme flexibility through the use of fragmented 5G spectrum assets. Meanwhile, it will have further development in the fields of mobile broadband, computing, extended reality, industrial Internet of Things, 5G enterprise private networks and fixed wireless access. In addition, SIM8280, another 5G module based on Snapdragon X65, will be launched this year.


SIM8282G-M2 has powerful scalability and various interfaces, including PCIe,USB3.1,GPIO, etc. Its AT command is compatible with SIM8202G/SIM8200X-M2 modules, so it can minimize the investment cost and shorten the time to market.


5G smart module SIM9350, equipped with Qualcomm SM4350 and cost-effective 5G SoC, oriented to the global market



SIM9350 is a 5G smart wireless communication module equipped with the Android system, Qualcomm’s 8-core 64-bit ARM V8 processor, and Kyro CPU 460. The main frequency is up to 2.0GHz. Integrated GPS L1+L5 dual-frequency positioning can provide fast and accurate positioning in different environments. The built-in AdrenoTM 619 GPU supports multiple HD cameras and HD touch screens. With powerful high-speed data transmission and multimedia processing capabilities, it can help customers use the intelligent module’s operating system and high performance to quickly develop products and applications related to multimedia, wireless communication and other functions.


Meanwhile, SIM9350 integrates wireless cellular communication, short haul communication and multi-satellite dual-frequency receiver functions, supports 5G NR Sub-6GHz, DL 4X4 MIMO, UL 2X2 MIMO, NSA and SA. As a broadband intelligent wireless communication module integrating L1+L5 GPS, 2X2 MIMO and AX Ready Wi-Fi, it is suitable for smart POS cash registers, logistics terminals, VR cameras, intelligent robots, vehicle-mounted equipment, smart information collectors, smart handheld terminals and other products in 5G networks.


4G smart module SIM8970, equipped with Qualcomm QCM6125 and high-end 5G SoC, a typical combination of AI + IoT



SIM8970 is a new-generation 4G intelligent wireless communication module equipped with the Android system, Qualcomm QCM6125 and a built-in 8-core Kryo 260 CPU. The main frequency is up to 2.0GHz. Integrated with the Adreno610 AT 950MHz GPU, it has powerful image processing capabilities. The adoption of the third-generation AIE engine greatly improves the performance of AI. It can be installed with AI, face recognition, voice recognition and other algorithms, effectively increasing human-computer interaction, to satisfy the currently mainstream intelligent cockpit’s interactive control and other functions.
